Mechanism

A synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue and ghrelin mimetic that binds the GH-secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a); it induces pulsatile GH release (dependent on endogenous hypothalamic GHRH) and strongly activates hypothalamic NPY/AgRP appetite circuits, producing pronounced hunger.
