Thymogen is a synthetic dipeptide of glutamic acid and tryptophan (L-Glu-L-Trp), identified as an active fragment isolated from the calf-thymus peptide preparation Thymalin. In preclinical models it behaves as an immunomodulator rather than a straightforward stimulant: reported effects include promotion of T-cell differentiation and maturation, modulation of intracellular cyclic-nucleotide balance, and enhancement of neutrophil chemotaxis and phagocytosis, tending to normalise rather than maximally drive immune responses.
